Latin America innovates, connects, and transforms education in the world!

Tecnologico de Monterrey invites you to be part of this exclusive forum, which is being held for the first time thanks to a collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) to give global visibility to the most innovative educational projects at Latin American universities, as part of the prestigious QS Reimagine Education Awards & Conference 2025 event. 

The purpose of this call for proposals is for Latin American universities and educational institutions to transcend to a global stage by showing how they are transforming and solving educational challenges in their region, as well as creating collaborative networks between institutions and fostering a culture of academic innovation that impacts education around the world.

How to participate

Requirements:

  • Projects must be designed and implemented within higher education institutions with a focus on one of the categories described in the call for proposals. 
  • Projects may be submitted individually or by teams of up to five members. 
  • Projects must demonstrate high innovative value, considering their contribution and potential to generate changes in the teaching-learning process, creating new educational environments and models that impact the way students learn.  
  • Innovations may be in the early stages, but they must show measurable results or achievements, with local relevance and potential global impact. 
  • Proposals must be submitted in English. 
  • A representative from each selected project must attend in person to present at the showcase during the QS Reimagine Education Awards & Conference event, and their university must cover travel expenses. 
  • This event is separate from the QS Reimagine Education Awards project competition. Participating projects may or may not have been submitted to that competition. 
  • A committee composed of representatives from Tecnológico de Monterrey and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) will select the best projects from the participating universities. The committee's decision will be final and binding. 

Categories:

Projects that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ensuring equitable access to education for all learners, regardless of background or circumstance. Projects for this category have implemented innovative strategies, policies, or programmes that have expanded opportunities, created inclusive environments, and celebrated diversity within educational settings, fostering a culture of belonging and empowerment for all.

The project utilises AI technologies like machine learning and natural language processing to enrich teaching and learning experiences. The focus is leveraging AI to improve educational outcomes, enhance teaching efficiency, and personalise learning. This also includes adaptive learning systems, intelligent tutoring, automated grading, personalised learning platforms, predictive analytics, content recommendations, learning analytics for curriculum enhancement, and student enrollment/course recommendations.

The project uses GPT-like autoregressive models for educational purposes, aiming to enhance education by generating personalised learning resources such as study guides, practice quizzes, and educational articles, as well as developing interactive cases and simulations. Also includes supporting language learners, acting as a virtual tutor, aiding with writing tasks and research, and providing alternative access to educational content for learners with disabilities, real-time lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management.

Educational programme that has innovated in-person learning or skillfully combined traditional in-person teaching with online learning to create a dynamic and effective learning experience. 

Best electronic learning programme that utilises existing or innovative technological tools that facilitate and support learning through the use of information and communications technology.

Apply to this category if your institution or organisation demonstrates the best example of immersive experiential learning where learners benefit from being immersed in a digital world and are given opportunities to practice critical lessons.

Project that reimagines the way we assess learners grasp of course content/key skills. Project that aims to explore and improve the way we currently assess how much learners have learned, and how deeply they have understood what they have learned.

Projects that demonstrate exceptional utilisation of cutting-edge neuroscience research to optimise learning outcomes. We are particularly interested in initiatives that not only apply these discoveries effectively but also contribute to the advancement of instructional methodologies, leading to a more profound impact on the learning process. 

Initiatives dedicated to instilling values and ethics in education. It celebrates innovative programmes promoting integrity, empathy, and ethical decision-making. Initiatives foster respect, responsibility, and ethical leadership, inspiring positive contributions to communities.

Projects fostering mental and/or physical wellbeing and clarity of purpose within educational communities. It recognises initiatives implementing innovative strategies prioritising mental health, physical wellbeing, resilience, and purpose among learners, faculty, and stakeholders. These projects contribute significantly to creating supportive environments that nurture holistic development, promote self-care, and inspire individuals to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Educational programme that has innovated in designing o implementing microcredentials and/or alternative credentials to the student. Microcredentials are certifications issued by educational institutions or recognized organizations that validate the mastery of specific skills or knowledge in particular areas. These credentials are usually obtained after completing short courses, workshops, or specific learning modules and focus on practical competencies useful for the labor market. Alternative credentials aim to recognize skills and knowledge acquired outside traditional formal education frameworks, such as through work experience, independent projects, or online training. 

Key dates

  • Deadline for project submissions: October 10 
  • Notification of project selection to universities: November 3 
  • Presentation of selected projects at the Latin America Innovation Showcase, part of the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2025: December 2 

Benefits for selected projects

  • They will present their paper at the Latin America Innovation Showcase as part of the QS Reimagine Education Awards & Conference 2025 event agenda on 2 December from 11:00 to 12:00 (GMT). Participation by a representative of the development team. 
  • They will receive a complimentary ticket for a team representative to participate in the entire event, which will take place from 1 to 3 December this year. 
  • They will receive a certificate of recognition.
